Intermediate Wheel Throwing | JUNE
Intermediate
SAT 21/06/26 – 02/08/24 (skips 27/07) 10AM-12PM
£235 (£212.50*)
This course is led by our experienced tutor, Ekaterina, who will guide you through each stage of the process. This six week course is designed for those who already feel comfortable on the wheel and are ready to build confidence, develop their technique, and expand what they can make.
Across the sessions, you’ll explore research, design, and experimentation while developing the skills needed to create more complex forms. You’ll learn how to throw a range of vessels, including bottle shapes, larger plates, bowls, and jugs, and discover different methods for attaching handles. The course will also introduce more specialised trimming techniques to help you refine and finish your work with care.
In the final session, you’ll move into surface decoration, using underglazes and glazes to paint and personalise the pieces you’ve made over the previous five weeks. By the end of the course, you’ll have a small collection of finished vessels! And intermediate throwing techniques.

Over the 6 weeks, each participant will make at least one handled cup/mug and one tea bowl/handleless cup. Cups and mugs are one of the most fundamental forms in pottery, so this class will serve as a good entry point to throwing for those with no experience, and is a brilliant way to hone your skills if you have some experience already!
