Learn the basics of wheel throwing, or build upon previous learning, through a guided workshop with one of our talented tutors. Centering clay, coning up and pulling walls are all skills that you will learn during this session.
Hand Building (2hr)
Learn traditional hand-building techniques though a guided workshop with one of our talented tutors. Techniques such as coiling, slab building and pinch pots can be explored to create functional items, or ornamental sculptures. The choice is yours! What will you create?
Combined Wheel & Hand Building (2hr, 1hr each)
Not sure if wheel throwing or hand building is the technique for you? Why not try both? During this session you get the best of both worlds, learning basic hand building and wheel throwing techniques to create some pots. From centering clay and pulling walls, to pinching pots, you can learn it all! Please note, groups with over 4 participants require two tutors for the session.

FAQ
What’s included?
Materials, tuition and bisque firing is covered in the cost of each workshop. If you wish to have your work glazed this costs an additional £25pp which covers the cost of glazes, the glaze firing and having your work glazed by our expert technicians.
How many pottery wheels are there?
We currently have 4 wheels in the workshop. During workshops for more than 4 people the wheels will be shared – those not on a wheel can wedge their clay or do some hand building until it’s their turn to throw.
How will I choose my glazes?
If you have paid to have your work glazed, after your work has been bisque fired our team will send you an email link to our online glaze choice form. You’ll be able to select your 1st choice, 2nd choice and make a note of any other options you like.
Can you post my work to me after the session?
Yes! If you’ll only be in Dundee for a short time or if you can’t make it in for any reason, we’d be more than happy to securely pack and post your work to you. If you require this please drop us an email and we can organise a postage quote for you.
