Porcelain Cottages with Judith Davies

Porcelain Cottages | Judith Davies

Class 3 – Saturday 24/06/23 between 10:00 – 13:00

£60* (£54 for members)

For the first time, we’ll be using paper porcelain clay for this class. Durable, crisp white and beautifully translucent, porcelain is a very special clay that everyone should have an opportunity to use.

Make a group of little porcelain cottages that can house tea lights to
create a cosy atmosphere.

The tutor will show you how to use paper porcelain which helps you to
build thinly and fast using speed drying. We will slab build and also use
impressing techniques to create textures. Once the walls and roof are in
place we can add in architectural details and have fun giving your work
character and individuality.

The three hour course is suitable for beginners .

  1. Design your project and cut a paper template.
  2. Roll out the clay very thinly, cut out using templates.
  3. Add textures, windows and doors and speed dry.
  4. Join pieces together and continue to add architectural details.

Once the workshop has finished, your work will be moved to the kiln room where it will
dry for a few weeks before being fired by our skilled technicians. Depending on the size and scale of your piece, this can take a few weeks to complete.

*Due to the expense and quality of porcelain we have increased the cost of this class – we think it is absolutely worth it!
