Cups and Mugs with Eric Paliotta

Cups and Mugs (beginner/intermediate) – Eric Paliotta

6 week Course – 6 sessions

£235 (£212 for members)

Tuesday’s from the 21/02/23 – 04/04/23 (skips 28/03/23 to allow work to dry and be fired) between 18:00 – 20:00

The cups and mugs class is for beginners and intermediates, and focuses on the fundamentals of throwing pots on the wheel. In this class you will develop your throwing skills by making cups with and without handles. The class will go over a number of techniques including (but not limited to): centering clay on the wheel, throwing cylinders and other basic forms, making handles, and trimming foot rings.

Over the 6 weeks this course will run, each participant can expect to leave with one or more thrown cups/mugs and one or more hand-built cups/mugs. Cups and mugs are one of the most fundamental forms in pottery, so this class should serve as a good entry point to throwing for those with no experience, and a good way to hone your skills if you have some experience already!

Week 2: continue centering clay on the wheel and move into pulling basic cylinder forms. Finish any saved pieces from the previous week, and practice slab building.
